This week, we have a conversation with James Zimmerman, the author of “Deliverance at Hand!: The Redemption of a Devout Jehovah’s Witness.” We had the opportunity to review an advance copy of the book before we sat down and talked with James and it is a genuinely great read about growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness and how he eventually broke free from that community. His “redemption” was not without cost and we talk about that as well. 30 minutes was not enough time to explore James’ story but the good news is you can buy his book and read about it for yourself!

I finished reading “Deliverance at Hand!” earlier today.
The book packs a heavy emotional wallop. At least it did for me, but then, I experienced many of the same things that James did when I was booted out of the faith–disfellowshipped–when I was 20 years old. I did the door-to-door thing. But, unlike James, I was kind of a JW slacker. But there was so much there that plucked at my heartstrings. Yes, it really is like this, being a Jehovah’s Witness; he hits the nail on the head, and drives it home. A wonderful book.
