  • Episode 226 – Election Day

election-dayThis week’s episode is all about election day!  If you haven’t voted yet, you should go do it. Since we recorded a week ago, we don’t know how things look now but hopefully we are on the way to a Not Donald Trump presidency (edit: FUUUUUUUUUUUCK).  If we aren’t, well, shit.  We talk a little about the next steps no matter what happens in the 2016 elections and look back at some past elections.

Nick mentioned a video explaining ranked choice voting and here it is!

Tim mentioned a blog post he wrote about Bernie Sanders and that’s here.

And here is the video we mention with Penn Gillette talking about Donald Trump.

  • Episode 211 – Amanda Marcotte

xDN_rrIBThis week’s episode was recorded live at CONvergence 2016 and features political journalist Amanda Marcotte.  Much as we did a couple weeks ago with C. Robert Cargill, we spend this episode discussing the current political climate.  While the episode was recorded before the National Conventions, our conversation is just as relevant today as it was then.  We do delve into how Amanda got into the world of political journalism and make many jokes at Donald Trump’s expense.  If you like Trump, we’re sorry-not sorry.

  • Episode 209 – Brexit and Trump

3feWZw5m_400x400This week we talk with our friend C. Robert Cargill.  Cargill is a novelist (Dreams and Shadows) and screenwriter (Sinister, Dr. Strange) but we talked to him about politics.  Cargill is a Christian and a moderate conservative so he provides a considerably different viewpoint from one normally found on our podcast.  We spend some time looking at the Brexit situation in Britain and how it relates to the rise of Donald Trump in America.  Then, after bemoaning the sad state of politics in our country from the left and the right, we move on to our five questions.   Hopefully, we can get Cargill back to talk about his work on films like Sinister and Dr. Strange after Strange hits the theaters in November!

  • Episode 45 – Politics and Atheism

Way back in January, there was a silent auction at the Fearless Launch party.  One of the items up for bid was a guest spot on Geeks Without God.  Months later, we finally got the winner of the epic bidding war on the podcast.  Eric Jacobson, the big winner, joined us to talk about his experiences in local politics and we get to talking about what it will take to get atheists into a position where they can actually have an impact on the political process.  We also talked about the (then upcoming) historic vote for marriage equality in Minnesota. For his donation, of course, Eric also got a crack at our five questions.
