  • Episode 100 – Grace Megachurch

photo-7Wow!  We’ve made it to 100 episodes without a single week missed.  Take that all you podcasts that didn’t do that!  For our 100th episode, we went to Grace Evangelical Free Church in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.  We sat in the pews, watched and participated in the service, and then went back to Molly and Nick’s house to talk about the experience.  It was, to say the least, eye opening.  The podcast explores our responses to the service and to the people we saw there.

We’d like to thank everyone who donated to Fearless Comedy Productions so we would be forced to attend this service.  We didn’t enjoy ourselves but at least Fearless made $666 off of our pain!

  • Oh God, We’re Going to Church

10154934_10100814656908460_8505862338927593150_nThanks to the generous support of fans like you, the three of us were able to raise $666 for Fearless Comedy Productions this last weekend.

As you may recall, Tim and Nick promised to shave their heads if we reached $333.  You an see photographic evidence we reached that goal.  In the twelve hours after their heads were shaved, no fewer than ten people didn’t recognize Tim.  One of those people was Molly.

For $666, we promised to go to mass at Grace Church in Eden Prairie.  We are going to go attend quietly and respectfully.  We will not troll the church with atheist T-shirts or anything like that.  When we are done with the service, we’ll go home and record our 100th podcast about the experience.

When we record the podcast, there is a decent chance we’ll be less than respectful.

If you’d like to know more about the church, here’s what they believe.

Thanks again for your generosity.  We may not be looking forward to going to church but at least we are suffering for a good cause!

  • There Might Be Pain

We here at Geeks Without God have been partners with Fearless Comedy since their coming out party last January.

In April, Fearless is going to do something truly crazy – a 50 hour comedy marathon!  From April 4th – 6th, they will make comedy happen non-stop.  And we’ll be there to help.

We’ll be doing two live podcasts during the weekend.  The first will be on Friday, April 4th from 11:00Pm – Midnight.  Our scheduled guest is comedian Patrick Bauer.

The second podcast will be from 1:00AM – 2:00 AM on Sunday, April 6th.  Our scheduled guest is comedian Elizabeth Ess.

We hope you will join us for these events live or streaming on the web at the Die Laughing home page.  We also hope you will donate to Fearless Comedy.

To that end, we have created a challenge for ourselves.  Our goal is to make $666 during our two live appearances.  If we do, we’ll do something horrible.  We even made a video about it.  Check this out!

We can’t get the thing to embed so…shit.  The video is really funny but here’s the practical details:

If we raise $333 over our two shows, Nick and Tim will shave their heads.  That weekend.  You’ll be able to see them being bald for the rest of the show.

If we raise $666 over the weekend, we will go to Sunday services at Grace Megachurch in Eden Prairie and then record a podcast about our experience.  We will not attend the services as angry atheists.  We won’t wear buttons or T-shirts.  We will respectfully attend the service.

Here is your chance to make Geeks Without God go to church!  Please join us in April and be prepared to give generously.

  • CONvergence is here!

Just in case you have missed the two podcasts in which we talked about CONvergence, we wanted to offer a quick rundown on places you can see all of us at the convention!

All three of us will be in the Opening Ceremonies Sketch at 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 4th.  Opening ceremonies takes place on Main Stage so we’ve hit the BIG TIME!

On Friday at 3:30, the three of us will be improvising conspiracy theories with our friend Jeremy Stomberg on It’s a CONspiracy!  That will be in Atrium 4.

At 8:00 PM on Friday, we’ll be hosting the Fearless Comedy Room in room 224!  Stop in and try to win the Left Behind Board game, enjoy a specially selected Geeks Without God alcoholic treat and pledge to support Fearless Comedy Productions!

And on Saturday at 5:00, we’ll be celebrating our one year anniversary by recording two live podcasts!  The first will be with our innauguarl guest, Melissa Kaercher and the second will be with noted atheist blogger PZ Myers!

Of course all three of us will also be a part of Vilification Tennis on the Main Stage at 10:00 PM Saturday.  That is, of course, a very R rated show so if that isn’t your thing, we have no idea why you listen to our podcast!

We’re also doing many other panels separately so if you want to know what we’re up to, here are links to Molly, Nick and Tim’s schedules!

We hope to see you at the con!

  • Episode 52 – Public Bumming

CONvergence is less than a week away and even though we’ve already spent an episode geeking out about the con, we decided to do it again!  This time we try to focus on what we love about the convention including some stories from past years and full details about the costumes that Molly and Nick plan to be wearing over the course of the weekend. There is also an unusual amount of discussion about anal sex for our podcast.  By “unusual,” we mean “more than none.”  We also read off five answers from a gay science teacher in Indiana.

  • Episode 45 – Politics and Atheism

Way back in January, there was a silent auction at the Fearless Launch party.  One of the items up for bid was a guest spot on Geeks Without God.  Months later, we finally got the winner of the epic bidding war on the podcast.  Eric Jacobson, the big winner, joined us to talk about his experiences in local politics and we get to talking about what it will take to get atheists into a position where they can actually have an impact on the political process.  We also talked about the (then upcoming) historic vote for marriage equality in Minnesota. For his donation, of course, Eric also got a crack at our five questions.

  • Episode 28 – Rangers Like Buzz Lightyear

This Weeks Episode was recorded live at the Fearless Comedy Launch party and featured local podcaster and comedian Aric McKeown.  Aric became a born again Christian in high school and we talk with him about what made him choose that path as well as how he found his way to atheism.  We also talk about his comedy podcast The Mustache Rangers. And, of course, he gets to answer our legendary five questions.  We also give a brief preview of next week’s episode!

  • Episode 27 – Apropos of Something

This week is part II of our epic Fearless Comedy crossover EVENT!  Last week, the three of us appeared on Apropos of Nothing and this week, the hosts of AON appear on our podcast!  With three guests, we didn’t have much time for anything but five questions.  Salsa and Jena answered our five questions and then Matt, by virtue of being a former guest, asked the three of us his own five questions (a podcast tradition established by Ronn Bauman during a an episode that will air in a few weeks).  So that was a mere ten questions and we talked for almost an hour!  Matt managed to ask a question that got all three of us to say something sure to anger at least one person listening so keep your ears peeled for that!

  • Buckle up for the Podcast!

Hey folks!  This week, we did a guest appearance on the podcast of our Fearless Comedy partners, Apropos of Nothing!  The result was nothing short of crazy.  Ever wonder what it would sound like if Tim drank scotch?  You will find out!

Ever wonder what our podcast would sound like if it was twice as long and had no agenda whatsoever? You will find out!

The show is filled with swear words and unpopular opinions.  Also a rather long conversation about peeing. You’ve been warned!

This, by the way, is part one of an epic crossover event!  Next Tuesday, you can listen to part two RIGHT HERE!!!

    Now go listen!
