  • Episode 93 – Lady Parts and Gay Issues

This week’s episode was recorded live at Die Laughing.  It features comedian Elizabeth Ess talking about the Supreme Court and Hobby Lobby.  They sell yarn, in case you didn’t know.  They also really don’t want to be “forced” to provide certain kinds of contraception to their employees.  While we were talking to Elizaabeth about serious legal issues, we were also trying to raise money for Fearless Comedy.  You can hear how we did on those challenges, if you didn’t already know.

There is some editing of the podcast during times when we were having really exciting conversations with people in the back of the room.

  • Episode 92 – Motherf**king Tarantino

This week’s episode was recorded live at Die Laughing just a few short days ago.  We invited comedian Patrick Ryan Bauer on stage with us to talk about the films of Quentin Tarantino.  We didn’t just talk about Tarantino films, of course, because that would have involved the ability to stay on topic that none of the four of us possessed.  Not only did we have a great time talking with Patrick, we apparently offended someone so much, they asked for their money back with a statement somewhat akin to “I won’t stand for that sort of thing.”  That might not have been our fault.  But we choose to believe it was because we feel that would be kind of awesome.

Note: This episode was recorded live so the sound quality might be different than you expect.  Change is good.

  • Oh God, We’re Going to Church

10154934_10100814656908460_8505862338927593150_nThanks to the generous support of fans like you, the three of us were able to raise $666 for Fearless Comedy Productions this last weekend.

As you may recall, Tim and Nick promised to shave their heads if we reached $333.  You an see photographic evidence we reached that goal.  In the twelve hours after their heads were shaved, no fewer than ten people didn’t recognize Tim.  One of those people was Molly.

For $666, we promised to go to mass at Grace Church in Eden Prairie.  We are going to go attend quietly and respectfully.  We will not troll the church with atheist T-shirts or anything like that.  When we are done with the service, we’ll go home and record our 100th podcast about the experience.

When we record the podcast, there is a decent chance we’ll be less than respectful.

If you’d like to know more about the church, here’s what they believe.

Thanks again for your generosity.  We may not be looking forward to going to church but at least we are suffering for a good cause!

  • Camp Quest Fundraiser: Huge Success!

Thanks so much for your help in making this a success. With you, we were able to more than DOUBLE our goal, raising enough to sponsor two kids to Camp Quest Minnesota.

You’re all amazing; we couldn’t have done it without you.

Hopefully we’ll see some of you at the Die Laughing marathon, be sure to introduce yourself to us if you attend so we can thank you in-person!

  • Episode 52 – Public Bumming

CONvergence is less than a week away and even though we’ve already spent an episode geeking out about the con, we decided to do it again!  This time we try to focus on what we love about the convention including some stories from past years and full details about the costumes that Molly and Nick plan to be wearing over the course of the weekend. There is also an unusual amount of discussion about anal sex for our podcast.  By “unusual,” we mean “more than none.”  We also read off five answers from a gay science teacher in Indiana.

  • Episode 45 – Politics and Atheism

Way back in January, there was a silent auction at the Fearless Launch party.  One of the items up for bid was a guest spot on Geeks Without God.  Months later, we finally got the winner of the epic bidding war on the podcast.  Eric Jacobson, the big winner, joined us to talk about his experiences in local politics and we get to talking about what it will take to get atheists into a position where they can actually have an impact on the political process.  We also talked about the (then upcoming) historic vote for marriage equality in Minnesota. For his donation, of course, Eric also got a crack at our five questions.

  • Episode 28 – Rangers Like Buzz Lightyear

This Weeks Episode was recorded live at the Fearless Comedy Launch party and featured local podcaster and comedian Aric McKeown.  Aric became a born again Christian in high school and we talk with him about what made him choose that path as well as how he found his way to atheism.  We also talk about his comedy podcast The Mustache Rangers. And, of course, he gets to answer our legendary five questions.  We also give a brief preview of next week’s episode!

  • Episode 27 – Apropos of Something

This week is part II of our epic Fearless Comedy crossover EVENT!  Last week, the three of us appeared on Apropos of Nothing and this week, the hosts of AON appear on our podcast!  With three guests, we didn’t have much time for anything but five questions.  Salsa and Jena answered our five questions and then Matt, by virtue of being a former guest, asked the three of us his own five questions (a podcast tradition established by Ronn Bauman during a an episode that will air in a few weeks).  So that was a mere ten questions and we talked for almost an hour!  Matt managed to ask a question that got all three of us to say something sure to anger at least one person listening so keep your ears peeled for that!

  • Geeks Without God Fearless Events

Hey everyone!  As part of our new partnership with Fearless Comedy, we have a couple of special podcasting events scheduled.

First, we’ll be recording a crossover episode with our fellow Fearless partners, Appropos of Nothing.  In early January, we’ll all be sitting down for a epic podcasting evening.  The three of us will be guests on the AON Podcast and then the three of them will appear on our podcast.

Scheduled air dates for those two shows are January 3rd for the Appropos of Nothing Podcast and January 8th for Geeks Without God.

We will also be recording our podcast live at the Fearless Comedy launch party on January 12th!  Our scheduled guest will be Aric McKeown from the Mustache Rangers!

We’ll be talking about a lot more stuff in conjunction with Fearless Comedy.  We’ve even got an episode devoted to it later this month.  It’ll get pretty obnoxious.

It’ll also be full of atheism, geekery and comedy so you can take the obnoxious, right?

  • Geeks Without God Partnering with Fearless Comedy Productions

You may have noticed a spiffy new button (showing a blindfolded dude) on our website.  If you click on it, you will be magically transported to the Fearless Comedy Production web site.

Don’t click on it yet!  We aren’t finished here!

…you clicked on it, didn’t you?

The three of us are founding members of the company and our podcast is going to be a creative partner.

What does that mean?  Right now, it doesn’t mean a whole lot except we are really excited to help launch this new company.  Later it will mean we might do some performing/podcasting with other Fearless partners, and we’ll probably be promoting some events on our website.

This weekend, the website will go fully live and there will be all sorts of exciting stuff to see.  For now, we just wanted to let you know about the button.

You can click the button now.
