edge-of-tomorrow-7This week, we gathered in the basement studio to talk about geeky media we plan to consume over the next month or so.  There are video releases, movies, tabletop and video games, television shows, and even one book!  We may not have managed to touch on everything but we get pretty solid coverage on most topics.  If we missed something, we hope you will enlighten us in the comments!

Show notes below the fold:

If you are interested in the Flopcast, mentioned in our listener’s answers, you can find it here!

  1. Last weekend, I saw The Judge (Robert Duvall, Robert Downey Jr., Vincent D’Noforio), Despite some flaws — the courtroom scenes are Law & Order, not real court; RDJ doesn’t quite hold up to Duvall’s wonderful performance; Indiana is NOT that hilly! — I really enjoyed the film and it didn’t feel like a 2:45 movie.

Not a lot of geeky content (other than the RDJ connection) and I don’t think religion even came up in the story, but it was a solid movie and well worth a rental.

  2. I was so excited to hear my five answers! Thanks for sharing them, and for putting the link to The Flopcast in your show notes. Now I have to go back and comment on last week’s episode, being the huge Doctor Who geek that I am. 🙂

My husband regularly attends MarsCon because he’s a veteran of the comedy music scene, but he and I also attended CONvergence this year and last. I really enjoyed your live podcast recordings and sang your theme song to claim my sticker!

    1. I have met Kevin at MarsCon and CONvergence and started listening to the Flopcast a few months ago.

  3. If you’re into Assassin’s Creed, I’d also recommend checking out Shadow of Mordor. It runs on the same/similar engine, but has less climbing and better combat. Super addictive!

    1. I have no idea when I’ll get to it, but I will. Right now, Destiny is taking up my video gaming time, and I expect that will lead right into Assassin’s Creed Unity. Maybe after that I’ll see if I can scrounge a used copy of Shadow of Mordor.

  4. Molly mentioned The Machinist, but wasn’t sure about the director. The Machinist was directed by Brad Anderson, who also directed several Fringe episodes. He also directed Stonehearst Asylum which comes out later this month, and which I hope is well worth watching; it defintely features an all-star cast. It based on a classic Edgar Allen Poe short story, and Poe aficionados can probably guess which one I’m referring to.

  5. Hi Hack
    – The Judge was shot in Massachusetts…mostly in Shelburne Falls, a small town in the Berkshires. I can’t believe the triued to pass that off as Indiana.
