It has been a while since the three of us have explored our geeky boners!  Molly gets excited about proofreading in ways that will make no sense to people who don’t care about grammar.  Nick runs through a large number of movies that he is looking forward to this year.  Tim talks about all the tabletop games he’s been playing lately, including games produced by Molly’s company and Lords of Waterdeep, which was mentioned by Brienne Bilyeu back in Episode 24.  Also, For the first time in a while, a listener (Josh Helton) gets a crack at our five questions.

Show notes below the fold (including important corrections of what Molly said) :

Molly talks about the “Star Wars: Edge of the Empire” role playing game from Fantasy Flight Games.

There are lots of things on the Internet showing how Orson Scott Card is kind of a dick.  Here’s one.

Nick mentions the comic Irredeemable.

We mention a lot of games.  They include Agricola, Lords of Waterdeep, Seven Wonders, Talisman, Endeavor, Dominion, Gamers vs. Evil: The Penny Arcade Card Game, Battlestar Galactica, and X-Wing.  The best place to look for information about any of these is on boardgamegeek.com.

Molly makes lots of mistakes when discussing games. Games her company publishes. Games she’s PLAYED. It’s embarrassing. Here are the retractions: Battlestar Galactica is playable by 3 – 6 players (7 with the Pegasus Expansion). And you couldn’t have a 100 point army in X-Wing that contains 20 ships. Not even “like 20 ships or something.” First of all, you can field a maximum of 8 ships. Second of all, 100 divided by 20 is 5 and the lowest pilot cost is 12. So, yeah. She done fucked up, and she’s sorry. (Thanks to Mark Larson for setting her straight.)

  1. My “game I can keep playing” is the original 1980’s version of Wiz-War.
It’s been changed and ‘enhanced’ over the years, but my friend Keith and I have a pair of original versions with bad art and flimsy paper cards, and it’s great.

  2. Whoa, my questions got read! Sorry I didn’t give any intro or outro, but glad to know the straight forward nature was appreciated. For some more nerdcore artists to check out:

    Mega Ran
    Adam WarRock
MC Lars (there’s even a pic of one of my tattoos in the appropriate section on Lars’ site)
    Dr Awkward

And Molly, any hints you can give about future Netrunner or XWing Minis expansions?

    1. No worries about the intro or outro. Your answers were great. Can’t believe someone spit on your car!

In a good Christian manner, of course!

    2. >Molly, any hints you can give about future Netrunner or XWing Minis expansions?

Here’s what I can tell you under company policy: There will be some.

      Ta-dah!

    3. PS: Nick and I love MC Lars and I’ve very much liked what I’ve heard of Adam WarRock.

Dr. Awkward is a character in Kingdom of Loathing and now I think I know why (beyond the obvious palidrome).

  3. I was soooooo happy to have found out that FF and WOTC partnered/whatever for netrunner. It was one of my favorite games in university, even though I didn’t play it too much. I’ve been grabbing the sets as they come out, and am really excited to teach my son when he’s old enough to get it. (Same goes with my wife, hey-oh!)

Can somone confirm/deny if there’s going to be any more Arkham Horror? Would love to add to my wall of boxes 😉

    Thanks all
