Episode 7 – Two Year Long Mars Boner

The three of us get together to explore our most recent geeky boners including comic books, Mars Curiousity and running with zombies.  Tim also talks a little about his contribution to an essay compilation.  Then we turn our minds to a question a Fundamentalist Christian asked Tim on his blog – is there such a thing as a fundamentalist atheist?  Once we’ve spent some time pondering that question, we turn our attention to Nick and he finally gets to answer our five questions.  If his favorite sandwich doesn’t make you hungry, there’s something wrong with you.

Show notes are below the fold.

Tim talks about being a contributor to “Atheist Voices of Minnesota.”  If you’d like to learn more about the book, check it out here.  There are links to purchase if you would like.  All proceeds go to Minnesota Atheists.

Nick says his favorite web site for Comic News is Bleeding Cool.

Here’s a link to the panorama picture from the Mars Curiousity that Tim was talking about.

And here are a couple of pictures of Nick’s Modeling work:

Given the obvious love of Marvel here, you should check out Kieron Gillen’s new podcast: Decompressed. To quote from his blog,
‘So I’ve decided to start an comics craft podcast. It’s called DECOMPRESSED and the basic idea is I interview a creator about an issue, and really dig into it. In a “What were you trying to do with that panel” way, though it’s not quite as all as detail orientated at that.’

By the way, I love the Fallout lunchbox in the last picture there.

    • Awesome! I’ve seen his DECOMPRESSED blog linked to, and browsed through it, but I wasn’t aware there was a podcast element to it. I’ll definitely be giving it a listen, thanks for the heads up!

The Fallout lunchbox has served me well for storing my paints and brushes, and the Vault Boy bobblehead that came with it protects my desk at work. Thanks for listening!

I think Decompressed is just the name of the podcast, whereas the blog is just referred to as his workblog.

Oh, and you might want to check the show title under the play button up at the top of this entry.[/pedantry] [Sorry]

        • Never apologize for pedantry. You have a staunch defender in me! PRECISION IN ALL THINGS!

        • I’m a few episodes in, and I’m loving it. Matt Fraction doesn’t sound like what I expected at all. Thanks again for the tip!
